As the name implies, overuse injuries occur when we overuse a specific part of our body. They can occur from sitting down all day in front of a computer or running a marathon. They are often characterised by a dull pain when using a specific part of your body. Usually you will recover if you stop the causing activity for a few weeks. If not, they gradually get worse, the pain occurring more often and becoming more severe. There are many causes and areas in the body where this occurs. Common examples are tennis elbow, jumper's knee, and achillies tendonitis.
Physiotherapy can be of use to help heal these injuries and to alter any faulty biomechanics that may be a contributing factor.
